Daasebre Gyamenah Passes On
Highlife musician Daasebre Gyamenah has died after a short illness.
He died in the early hours of Friday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Brother of the musician, Martin Appiah Kubi confirmed the news to citifmonline.com.
Mr. Appiah Kubi stated that he “received a call from a Nurse at Korle Bu this morning” informing him of his brother’s death.
About Daasebre
Daasebre Kojo Gyamenah was a Highlife musician who became very popular for his debut hit ‘Kokooko’ in 1999 which featured Lord Kenya.
This song was one of the major fusion of hiplife and highlife in Ghana and meant a successful career for both musicians.
In 2006, Daasebre was imprisoned in the United Kingdom for possession of drugs and was later acquitted of the offence.
But this didn’t stop him from releasing another album called ‘A Friend In Need’.
The song became a hit on Ghanaian radio charts with the popular songs ‘Seetei’, ‘Wafom’, ‘Ahuofe’.
