How Did Dj Switch Win DJ Of The Year? Ghana DJ Awards Organisers Must Come Again!!

Dj Switch is no doubt good at her job especially given her age and what she has been able to achieve for herself in this short spate of time.

The year under review thus February 1,2018 to February 1,2019 saw her play at several high profile shows where she did wow the crowd to be honest.

The icing on the cake for her was in February,2018 where she was guest and performer at the this last year’s Goalkeepers conference in New York where she played to the delight of President Macron of France,celebrated Billionaire Bill Gates and wife Melinda and supermodel Naomi Campbell.

This piece has nothing to do with either she being very young and so shouldn’t be awarded even if she deserves it and the gender card shouldn’t be played either.

It is based solely on competence and artistry.

Djing is the art in itself and if people are to be awarded as djs I think the artistry should suffice more rather than popularity.

If you compare Dj Switch to all the others in the category in terms of pure artistry and ethics as a Dj ,honestly she shouldn’t even be in that category.

Dj Black’s prowess are well documented and he has managed to stay relevant over the years including the year under review and has managed to carve a niche for himself and hence is the first point of call for most high profile shows in Ghana and finds a way to wow the crowd without neglecting his good turntable skills.

Dj Vyrusky is another who has risen very rapidly to the higher echelons of the Dj profession and plays for one of the biggest artistes in the country if not the biggest in the name of Shatta Wale and also official Dj for the Lynx entertainment signees to wit Kuami Eugene and Kidi.

Dj Mic Smith is another household name in the entertainment industry for his good mixes and scratching skills over the years.We’ve seen him grow over the year’s from his days at then Live fm to YFM now with his good music selection and seamless ability to mix songs of difference genres with very vast bpm(beats per minute) and now the official Dj for Medikal.

If it comes to pure artistry and competence behind the decks,Dj Switch has some catching up to do with these gurus in the game but what do I know I may just be an ardent music lover and someone with elementary knowledge in Djing.

I’m quite sure in my mind though that with that elementary knowledge Dj Switch didn’t outperform Dj black,Dj Vyrusky or Dj Mic Smith with the year under review.

Perhaps it was given to her to motivate her to do more or was it be because of her links with main organizer of the show ,Merqury Quaye (the devil in me just spoke) .

All said and done it was quite a well put together show and I’d say kudos to orgsnisers with the room for improvement mantra a constant and the faux pas in awarding Dj Switch as Dj Of The year should be made away with in subsequent editions.
